Grant-Making Webinar: The Power and Potential of Place-Based Funding

The knowledge and insights of local people play a tremendous part in ensuring that local initiatives not only thrive but inspire wider change. Not only does it teach funders more about the people they serve, but it also creates an avenue in which funders can learn more about themselves and their place within the charitable sector.

We were thrilled to recently host our first grant-making webinar: ‘The Power and Potential of Place-Based Funding’, where we were joined by an expert panel to explore the power and potential that place-based funding holds, and what it means to the communities it has affected the most.

We were joined by Dinah Cox, Joe Doran and Paul Carbury as they shared their insights, experience and reflections on the transformative power of place-based funding, where local change can inspire broader societal transformation.

Hosted by Matt Till, Team Leader on the Recruitment Team at Prospectus, the panel provided valuable perspectives on the significance of place-based funding.

Throughout the webinar, the audience had the opportunity to hear about real-world examples, challenges, and success stories related to place-based funding. The discussion was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, providing attendees with a fresh perspective on the potential for positive change within their own communities.

Matt posed some questions to the panel that covered:

  • An outline of the panellists’ organisations’ place-based work and how it has evolved.
  • How to articulate the importance of the ‘power dynamic’ in designing place-based funding programmes.
  • Organisational ambitions, aspirations and the legacy the panellists hope to achieve with funding decisions.

The panel gave open and honest answers about their challenges, processes and where they have found success. Catch up by watching the webinar recording below.
