It is a subject that is well-known, but is something that is misunderstood by many. The menopause is experienced by all women more and more as the effects of evolution and longer lifespans are becoming a reality, lasting for a median period of 7 years. What you may not know is that perimenopause and the effects of the menopause can be experienced far before the age traditionally understood and can have a big impact on careers, with 20% of women leaving their jobs because of their menopause. This alone shows that the link between the menopause and mental health is palpaple, and is something we wanted to raise awareness of for Mental Health Awareness Week.
