Sally Miller has worked in the charity sector since 1994 and has spent the last twelve years working with organisations that provide services to older people and their carers. She has been chief executive of Carers Network for the past three years and prior to that worked in senior positions for Jewish Care and Nightingale Hammerson, a residential care specialist.

What was your first job?

Volunteer recruiter and coordinator.

What is the best piece of leadership advice you’ve been given?

Sleep on big and HR decisions.

What or who is your most admired purpose-led organisation or person?

My divisional director at RNIB.

What do you do to help ensure good mental health?

Sleep.

What is the most impactful leadership decision you’ve made?

Organisational restructure and culture changes.

If you needed some sound advice, who would you call?

My Chair.

What is your dream job? (Apart from your current one!)

Travel journalist or doctor.

Favourite place to eat?

Chinese restaurants.

Why are you in the purpose-led sector?

Passion about and for older people.

Documentary on Egypt.
