Firas joined Prospectus in August 2021 as a Trainee Fundraising Recruitment Consultant. Prior to that, he has worked in the Humanitarian field for more than eight years in Romania and Lebanon. His previous roles have included Community Services Officer (UNHCR Romania), Registration Assistant, Senior Registration Assistant, Refugee Status Determination Associate and Community Based Protection Associate (UNHCR Lebanon). Firas briefly worked as a sessional Arabic Interpreter with the Refugee Council in London during his studies.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut. He also holds a Master of Laws degree in Transnational Crime and Justice from UNICRI and the University for PEACE in Turin, Italy. Firas recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in International Development at Birkbeck, University of London.
Whilst studying during the pandemic, Firas has co-founded a charity in the UK that focuses on providing an online education platform for Refugees and Asylum-Seekers mainly in Greece. He is currently a Trustee at ConnectionHub and the focal point for safeguarding and Protection.
Firas is passionate about humanitarian causes, education and international development.
