With the current Chief Executive Officer stepping back due to ill health, the Board were looking to engage an Interim CEO to offer leadership to the organisation over a 6-12 month period. The Interim would be responsible for ensuring their high-quality service delivery is maintained, staff are well managed and supported, and that all aspects of operational delivery run smoothly, including oversight of funding and financial management.
Alongside the day-to-day leadership of the organisation, the Board had also identified a few key projects for the Interim to lead on, including: reviewing and assessing the level of risk the organisation operates at; creating and delivering a financial sustainability plan; and working with the team to further develop and enhance organisational culture.
The placed candidate brought over 20 years’ experience as a Chief Executive Officer from within the charity sector, both from long term permanent roles and significant periods of consultancy. Their strong background in working across sectors – police, social services, voluntary sector and communities, combined with excellent organisational leadership and fundraising experience plus a deep passion for the work of the organisation, meant the Board felt extremely confident with their appointment.
To secure the right candidate to post the Board were really forward thinking around how they could flex their offer and agreed to offer the full time salary for 4 days a week.
