Chief Operating Officer

The Printing Charity helps to make life better for people working in or connected to printing, publishing, packaging and the graphic arts. The organisation has a proud heritage and history, supporting individuals since 1827, in a sector that today is made up of an estimated 8,000 businesses, employing 112,000 people. With national reach, The Printing Charity provides practical and emotional support for people facing hardship as well as championing the skills and opportunities within the sector for aspiring talent.

Following on from new initiatives including a 24/7 helpline, a sheltered homes upgrade and a new Rising Star Awards programme, the charity created a new role of Chief Operating Officer, working as number two to the Chief Executive Officer, to build additional capacity and capability for the charity as it approached it’s 200-year anniversary. The COO would lead the strong staff team, enhance quality governance and manage a variety of activities across the breadth of the charity’s work to further expand its impact and reach. We searched for individuals with experience of achieving operational excellence and a track record of leading projects that created positive change from frontline charities and the printing industry.

Teresa Brinkley was appointed to the role. Teresa bought extensive operational leadership experience in organisations experiencing periods of significant change, transformation or growth. Following an established career in the media industry covering Print, Packaging, Digital, Film, Design and Strategy for commercial agencies, Teresa gained senior strategic operations experience by working in a complex charity, supporting strategic re-organisation and restructure as well as developing processes and policies. Teresa also supports a number of organisations in their development in a voluntary capacity.
