Refugee Action has supported refugees and people seeking asylum since 1981.  Their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.

We were very proud to partner with Refugee Action to find an inclusive, courageous, collaborative leader to work with a highly talented and committed board and staff team to develop and drive Refugee Action forward with passion and humility. We were looking to identify candidates that brought a track record of successful leadership in securing systemic change, through campaigns, services and/or capacity building.  Critically we were also keen to attract candidates with lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum.

65 applicants applied for the role and we were pleased to have a good balance of gender, ethnic diversity and lived experience in the mix.  12 candidates were taken through a thorough, inclusive interview and assessment process. Ultimately Tim Naor Hilton was appointed, their former Head of Asylum, bringing a career-long passion and commitment to standing up for, and fighting for the rights of, refugees and people seeking asylum. Tim performed well against external candidates and we were delighted to be able to support his leadership journey further within Refugee Action.
