Plan International UK is a global children’s charity working in more than 50 countries across the globe. The organisation supports young people growing up in some of the world’s poorest communities, making sure they have access to the education, health care, clean water and future opportunities they need to thrive. They are also committed to creating a just and equal world for all girls – including here in the UK.
Prospectus were approached by Plan International UK to support with the recruitment of a Programme Specialist. The purpose of this role was to support the effective delivery of the disasters and emergencies programming as well as spearheading the development and management of a significant part of Plan International UK’s disasters grants portfolio. This included facilitating and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and representing the organisation with institutional donors and partners. The role also involved managing, monitoring and evaluating projects, with a key focus on child protection and gender equality in a geographical area including West Africa – particularly Nigeria – and the Middle East region.
With a need for a quick turnaround and immediate start, Prospectus provided a range of suitable programme-focused and operational candidates with experience across temporary and permanent assignments, consultancy and in-house. Following a successful interview process, Plan International UK appointed Joanne Edwards, an outstanding humanitarian professional who had a proven track record spearheading compelling international programmes and nurturing key relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
