The Challenge

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity run by local people for the benefit of local wildlife and communities. Their mission is to protect Nottinghamshire’s wildlife, restore biodiversity and inspire people to act for nature and climate. The Trust owns two subsidiaries, which gift-aid all their profits to the Trust, supporting their charitable work across the county, creating a wilder future for Nottinghamshire.

As a result of continuous growth, from ambitious rewilding projects across 2,000 hectares of land to a new nature and facilities centre, they came to Prospectus for support with a Board Attraction campaign, looking to appoint candidates who can help drive forward their ambitious strategy bringing with them demonstratable sector expertise and guidance ensuring the Trust’s operational effectiveness. This included:

  • Chair (Designate) – Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
  • Non-Executive Directors – East Midlands Environmental Consultancy
  • Non-Executive Directors – Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Trading Ltd

The Solution

Prospectus delivered a planned and strategic targeted advertising campaign, to attract individuals from diverse sectors and experience. With a focus on creative attraction methods, bespoke mailers, digital display visuals and a candidate pack.

The creative visuals were bespoke and tailored to their brand, making them the perfect tool to draw attention to these high-impact roles and provide audiences with essential information in a clear and captivating way.

 

The Outcome

The response was overwhelmingly positive, with numerous highly qualified applicants coming forward to express their interest in these roles. The recruitment process has seen the Trust strengthen its governance and leadership as it continues its vital work protecting and enhancing the county’s wildlife.

The successful candidates:

  • Chris Ruston is a non-executive Director of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Trading Ltd. A Hospitality and Leisure professional with strong operational skills, Chris has over 25 years of experience working for corporate organisations including a 20 year career at Centre Parcs where he is currently the Village Director in Sherwood Forest.
  • Luke Tremlett is a non-executive Director of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Trading Ltd. Currently Operations Director at Greene King, brings with him a demonstrated history of working in the hospitality industry and strong commercial acumen.
  • Robert Dows-Miller is a non-executive Director of East Midlands Environmental Consultants Ltd. He has over 20 years of experience in Project and Programme Management, with a track record of leading successful change management and delivery. Robert has worked across various Professional Services Firms and Financial Services including Barclays Bank and KMPG.
  • Andrew Wilkinson is a Trustee and Chair Designate of the Trust, a qualified accountant with significant business and finance experience over 28 years at Boots and a further 8 years at Topps Tiles. Andrew is also a Trustee and Treasurer at Nottingham Mencap
