UK Foundations Funding Advisor


The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) started their relief efforts after World War Two. Today, they work in both new and protracted crises across 35 countries. They specialise in six areas: food security, education, shelter, legal assistance, camp management, and water, sanitation and hygiene.

NRC in UK was established in 2020 with the main objective of strengthening the profile, outreach and impact of the Norwegian Refugee Council as a humanitarian organisation in the United Kingdom.  NRC in UK is looking to leverage the private sector to provide funding, skills, and strategic partnerships that improve the lives of people displaced by conflict worldwide.

We were looking for the first senior fundraising role at NRC in the UK. This role would work with the NRC’s UK Director and the Global Corporate Relations section in Norway to develop, monitor, and implement NRC’s fundraising policies and strategies in the UK. They would be responsible for creating and sustaining relationships with trusts, foundations, and philanthropists based in the UK to fund the organisations global programmes. The post holder would be expected to go out and secure new relationships with UK-based private sector organisations or foundations. 

We approached candidates from our database and on LinkedIn, targeting individuals with excellent high-value fundraising and networking experience ideally in the international development/humanitarian sector.

NRC UK appointed an experienced high-value fundraising professional within the international development/humanitarian charity sector. Since joining NRC UK as their the sole fundraiser they have successfully secured £500k in their first year and helped to shape the fundraising strategy of NRC in the UK. Throughout their career they secured five and six figure gift experience from trusts and foundations, HNWIs, corporates, and statutory sources and is comfortable leading on strategy.
