About
London is a vibrant city, yet far too many young people still face homelessness, insecurity and harm. New Horizon Youth Centre has been supporting 16–24-year-olds since 1967, providing a critical network of help through its day centre, community-based work and remote services.
As the organisation embarked on a new strategic chapter, it created a new senior leadership post — Director of Services — to lead the delivery and development of frontline services and help ensure the organisation’s offer remains high-quality, joined-up and relentlessly focused on young people’s needs.
The Brief
As New Horizon Youth Centre embarked on its new five-year strategy, it created a new leadership position, Director of Services, to lead the delivery and development of all frontline services. The organisation needed an exceptional senior leader who could bring together a broad portfolio spanning housing, health, youth work, rough sleeping, and youth justice, while strengthening quality, performance, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice across the whole offer. Just as importantly, this person would need the credibility and leadership style to inspire large frontline teams, shape culture, and work closely with the executive team to drive improvement and cross-organisational collaboration.
Our Approach
Prospectus worked closely with key stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into a clear, appointment-ready brief, ensuring the search reflected both the operational complexity of New Horizon’s services and the organisation’s ambition to deliver joined-up, inclusive, high-impact support.
We ran a targeted search for leaders with significant experience overseeing large frontline teams and improving services in environments shaped by high need, safeguarding responsibilities and partnership working.
Throughout the process, we focused on evidence of delivery: candidates’ ability to lead through change, build trust across multi-disciplinary teams, manage risk appropriately, and keep service users’ needs at the heart of decision-making.
The Outcome
Prospectus successfully appointed Katherine Eveleigh as Director of Services.
Katherine brings over 20 years’ experience working with children and young people, with a track record of leading large, geographically dispersed teams and delivering complex programmes focused on safety, wellbeing, progression and outcomes. Most recently, she held senior leadership roles at The King’s Trust and The Prince’s Trust, with responsibility for strategy implementation, operational delivery, safeguarding, performance, and leading large multidisciplinary teams. Her appointment strengthens New Horizon Youth Centre’s senior leadership capability as it develops services and delivers on its strategic ambitions for young Londoners.
