As one of the wealthiest cities in the world, London also has the highest rates of poverty and inequality of any English region. The London Community Foundation’s mission is to help bridge this gap.  The London Community Foundation (LCF) has a track record of strong growth. Their grants address some of society’s most pressing community-related issues such as child poverty, unemployment, isolation, homelessness, domestic violence and gang crime.

 

The successful candidate would need to be an ambitious and enabling leader with the ability to excite and engage others. They would need to bring a proven history of building impactful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and have a track record of delivering growth through fundraising, new business development or sales and marketing at a senior level. Sound financial literacy and commercial acumen would be essential.

 

Kate Markey was appointed as Chief Executive and joined the team in May 2018. Kate has longstanding experience working with socially-driven organisations and is passionate about their ability to effect sustainable change in communities. Kate started her career as a journalist, including a period as Editor of Big Issue in the North, before moving into social investment as Deputy Chief Executive of CAN, where she established several funds and a social impact consultancy. Most recently Kate has been Managing Director of Blue Sky, an award winning social enterprise employing ex-offenders. She is also a member of the Investment Committee of Big Issue Invest, a Board Member of the Employment-Related Services Association (ERSA) and the national advocacy charity VoiceAbility, and a member of the Advisory Council for Big Society Capital.
