Interim Head of Internal Audit
WWF is an independent conservation organisation active in nearly 100 countries. Their aim is to tackle the deepening crisis of nature loss caused by human activities. Their ambition is to set nature on the path to recovery in the coming decade for the benefit of people and wildlife. Working with many others, they aim to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable.
With the Head of Internal Audit moving to a new role, Prospectus were asked to support in the recruitment of an Interim Head of Internal Audit to provide resource and continuity for the delivery of the annual audit plan while recruitment for the permanent role took place. As part of the Corporate Services Team, WWF-UK Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting team that works with managers to improve WWF-UK’s operations and add value. It helps WWF-UK accomplish its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of risk management, controls and governance processes at WWF-UK and its group entities. Managing a team of two, the main purpose for the Interim Head of Internal Audit was to coordinate the existing audit plan, working with a range of stakeholders to ensure continuity and provide reassurance to the Trustees.
Following a round of interviews, WWF recruited an experienced and qualified Chartered Internal Auditor with experience of leading and managing internal audit teams. With public sector and charity experience, and having worked as a consultant in previous roles, the candidate was able to bring the right experience and ability to take on the role at short notice and provide the necessary reassurance to the organisation, while allowing WWF to focus on recruiting a permanent Head of Internal Audit.
Jo Spencer (HR Shared Services Coordinator) said of the search “Prospectus have been great to work with. Always friendly and professional, flexible and have delivered when we have needed support.”
