Education and Participation Manager

Elfrida Rathbone Camden (ERC) is a small, vibrant charity which has supported disabled children and young people, parents and families in London for more than 30 years. ERC offers a range of services which aim to empower service users, realise their potential and maximise their community inclusion and achievement. They appointed Prospectus to help in their search for an Education and Participation Manager to oversee their further education project Leighton College, which delivers personal development, independent living, and employability courses for young adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities.

The Education and Participation Manager would manage, coordinate and develop ERC’s further education and employability programmes aimed at young adults with a learning disability aged 16 – 25 years old. Overseeing a small team (including tutors, learning support assistants and volunteers), they would ensure that all programmes are delivered to the highest quality so that opportunities are maximised for young disabled people to live independently, access employment, and to participate in their local community. The postholder would lead the development of other services to support the participation, inclusion and achievement of disabled young people and adults, and will work with colleagues to promote and market ERC’s education services to prospective learners, families and funders.

The successful candidate was an experienced teacher trainer with international experience in Cambridge International Education Curriculum and UK Adult ESOL core curriculum, specialising in both academic and community-based organisations. They had experience with Ofsted processes and completing self- assessment review (SAR) and has achieved in delivering education and facilitating learning via student focused objectives. They were also experienced in establishing training centres.
