Devon Community Foundation (DCF) specialises in supporting the fantastic charities and community groups who work so hard to help local people in need in Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay. DCF’s evidence-based grant making, support for local philanthropy and partnership work aim to address the wide inequalities across the county, as well as supporting communities to meet their aspirations for a better life.

DCF has built endowment funds of over £8.5million and since 1994 has distributed over £18m in grants.

DCF were seeking for a leader to take them to their next level of impact, building on a strong foundation, through understanding and identifying the needs and aspirations for people in Devon and reviewing DCF’s structures, practices and communications to best match these needs.

We were looking for a highly effective ambassador with experience of developing growth strategies. Our search focussed on targeting leaders within the charitable sector in the region and within foundations as well as those with links to the area, who could be interested in a move to the county following the pandemic.

Ceri Goddard was successfully appointed to the post from her role as Director at Equality Impact Investing Project where she led the development and delivery EIIP’s overall strategy. She previously held senior leadership roles in both financing and social change organisations, including Director of Gender at the Young Foundation and CEO of the Fawcett Society.

Ceri brings fantastic experienced both in developing effective strategy for VCSE organisations and alliances and the investment, grant funds and programmes that enable these; at local, national and transnational level. In 2021, Ceri was awarded an MBE For Services to Social Justice.
