Buxton Civic Association (BCA) is the leading environmental charity campaigning and working for the conservation and enhancement of the human and natural environment and heritage of Buxton. BCA responsibly manage natural and human heritage sites for the public benefit including Poole’s Cavern, the most successful paying tourism attraction in Buxton.

BCA were seeking to appoint their first ever CEO to help steer, manage and develop the organisation and take it to even greater levels of success. The role presented a unique opportunity to be based in the heart of the Peak District, with the ability to make a real difference to BCA and the beautiful town of Buxton and its people.

Prospectus were mandated to identify and engage potential candidates with proven leadership experience, a track record of development and delivery of organisational strategy and experience of diversifying income streams and/or trading income. Outside of the third sector BCA  also were particularly keen to engage with candidates from tourism, heritage, hospitality industries.

There was great interest and engagement with the role, with 35 applications received and a shortlist of 10 candidates. Ultimately, David Green was appointed who was most recently CEO at The Florence Nightingale Museum. David has over 25 years’ experience in leadership roles within internationally renowned heritage and conservation institutions, as well as experience within smaller, regional, community-focused organisations.
