Director of Development and External Relations
The Director of Development and External Relations at the British Science Association is tasked with leading and overseeing fundraising, communications and policy and influencing work. Prospectus supported the BSA team and specifically Hannah Russell, CEO, in appointing a new leader for these areas in November 2023 to replace a nine-year incumbent.
Equity, diversity and inclusion was of primary important to this search, led by colleagues across the BSA and trustees too. The selected candidate did not need to have science background but a tangible interest was necessary and a palpable belief in their own destiny to make this role their own.
Prospectus was able to demonstrate the formidable, fun, and engaging nature of this organisation and with milestones like 10 year objectives in place (being three years in at the time of the search), and the ability for this role to develop and deliver their own fundraising and business strategy, this was an exciting and busy search, Vijay Jassal began in post in November 2023 with experience at the likes of the National Emergencies Trust and the British Red Cross
