About
Bite Back 2030 is a youth-led movement working to challenge a food system that is failing children’s health. Founded in 2019, the organisation campaigns to ensure that every young person has access to healthy, nutritious food, regardless of background. Through a combination of youth activism, public campaigning and policy engagement, Bite Back is influencing change across schools, communities and national policy. Its work is focused on reducing childhood obesity and addressing the significant inequalities that exist in access to healthy food.
The Brief
Prospectus was appointed to support the recruitment of a new Chief Executive Officer at an important stage in Bite Back’s development. The organisation had established a strong national profile and track record of impact and was seeking a leader to build on this momentum and guide its next phase of growth.
The Board was looking for a strategic and values-led Chief Executive with experience of organisational leadership, income generation and influencing across a wide range of stakeholders, including government, industry and funders. A strong commitment to youth voice and the ability to lead an inclusive and collaborative culture were central to the brief.
The process took place during a pivotal period for the organisation and included extensive engagement with staff, the Youth Board and key external stakeholders to ensure alignment on the future leadership and direction.
Our Approach
Prospectus worked in close partnership with the Board to design and deliver a thorough and inclusive search process. We drew on our networks across the charity, public health, advocacy and international development sectors, supported by targeted search activity to ensure a broad and high-quality field.
The campaign generated significant interest, resulting in 157 direct applications. Careful assessment was undertaken with a focus on leadership capability, values alignment and the ability to operate effectively within a complex policy and stakeholder environment. Seven candidates were taken through to the final shortlist.
The search was delivered over a 3-month period, from March to June 2025.
The Outcome
Following a rigorous process, D’Arcy Williams was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in July 2025. He brings more than a decade of experience in public health, food systems and youth engagement, including several roles at UNICEF focused on nutrition and advocacy.
He has a strong track record of working across international contexts to influence policy, build partnerships and deliver programmes that improve outcomes for young people. His leadership style and commitment to youth-led change closely align with Bite Back’s mission and values.
D’Arcy’s appointment positions the organisation well for its next phase, with a continued focus on strengthening its impact, extending its reach and ensuring that young people remain at the centre of its work.
