About
Anne Frank Trust is an education-focused charity that empowers young people aged 9–15 to challenge all forms of prejudice. Through its programmes, young people gain the knowledge, motivation and skills to create meaningful and lasting change, using Anne Frank’s story as a powerful foundation for conversations about fairness, identity and respect.
The Brief
Having previously supported the recruitment of the Anne Frank Trust UK’s Chair of Trustees, Prospectus was delighted to partner with the organisation again to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer. This was a pivotal moment for the Trust, and the Treasurer role carries significant responsibility for ensuring strong financial leadership, robust governance and full transparency across the charity’s operations. The position required not only technical expertise, but also someone who could embody and champion the Trust’s mission and values at board level.
Our Approach
Prospectus delivered a collaborative and values‑led search process, shaped through extensive conversations with members of the Board to ensure the appointment brief fully reflected the strategic priorities, culture, and ambitions of the Anne Frank Trust. Working closely with trustees, we crafted a clear and compelling brief that captured not only the technical requirements of the role but also the leadership qualities and mission alignment essential for success.
Drawing on our excellent networks across the non-profit sector, we focused on identifying highly qualified finance professionals with the credibility and communication skills to operate effectively at Board level. Alongside this, we proactively sought individuals who demonstrated a genuine connection to the Trust’s mission and educational impact. A key priority was building a diverse and representative longlist, and we worked intentionally to bring forward candidates from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
The Outcome
Nicky Wade was appointed to the role. Currently Director of Finance at GamCare, Nicky brings over 30 years of senior finance experience and a track record of leading high-performing teams. She has held multiple finance director positions across the charity sector, including roles at Nightingale Hammerson, Starlight Children’s Foundation and British Military Fitness. Alongside her financial leadership, Nicky has overseen IT and organisational effectiveness functions, demonstrating her ability to manage a broad and complex remit. She is a qualified FCA accountant and brings a thoughtful, values-driven approach that aligns strongly with the Trust’s culture and ambitions.
