Welcome to our leadership spotlight series, where we ask each leader 10 quick-fire questions so that we can give a little insight into the person behind a leadership role.
What was your first job?
Working on a farm, potato sorting and general hard work!
What is the best piece of leadership advice you’ve been given?
Build the best possible team and trust them to deliver.
What or who is your most admired purpose-led organisation or person?
That’s a difficult question. I have great admiration for Riverford and their relentless pursuit of what is right.
What do you do to help ensure good mental health?
Run, cycle and read as much as possible. Take Sunday as a 100% rest day from work.
What is the most impactful leadership decision you’ve made?
Our commitment to our Africa Hub to ensure that our programmes are led, designed and delivered by those who live in the region and who understand the local context and opportunities. Our new strategy, name and messaging flows from this. I’m very excited about this.
If you needed some sound advice, who would you call?
Outside of my colleagues and trustees, I have a couple of mentors and also rely on my friends to give me honest advice and feedback
What is your dream job? (Apart from your current one!)
A role with a purpose I believe in and where I feel I can add value every day.
Favourite place to eat?
My local pizzeria with my family.
Why are you in the purpose-led sector?
I work very hard and want my time to be spent making a difference. It gives me the chance to work with people and other organisations that are driven by the same purpose.
