Director of Finance and Resources

King’s College London Students’ Union (KCLSU) works for a future where every member has the opportunity to thrive. As a highly inclusive charity, democratic organisation and membership body, KCLSU is run by our 30,000 plus students, for students. KCLSU operates across five campuses and supports a diverse membership as well as over 300 student groups. They are the UK’s oldest students’ union as well as one of the largest.

As part of a new strategy, KCLSU designed an exciting new post of Director of Finance and Resources to lead the finance, people and governance work, ensuring the team, policies and finances are all able to support its members to have the best possible student experience. The Director would work collaboratively on long-term strategic planning and organisational capacity building. Following consultation with the recruitment panel, staff and student groups, we sought a highly collaborative, financially adept and qualified leader, with experience of broader organisational operations. We conducted a search of candidates with experience of working in youth and member-led organisations, who held both a financial qualification and broader operational skills.

Gabriella Tamas was appointed to the role. Gabriella brings extensive financial, IT and organisation transformation experience gained primarily in the music industry from companies such as EMI and Universal Music. More recently, Gabriella had developed her experience in the non-profit sector through both executive and non-executive Board roles. She is ACMA qualified, holds an Executive MBA and a Masters in Finance, and brings an excellent business partnering approach as well as a track record of meaningfully influencing strategic decisions.
