A member of the Executive Management Committee, the Regional Director, Asia, oversees the implementation of regional and national initiatives in partnership with national and international partners. The investment for 2018 – 2024 will be $700m in countries including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Philippines.  

Prospectus has previously partnered with Nutrition International on a range of Board and Executive searches, we were selected as recruitment partner again for the critical Regional Director, Asia, appointment. Candidates from a range of countries and professional backgrounds were identified through the search, and following a rigorous assessment and selection process, Tomoko Nishimoto was appointed and joined in late 2020.

Tomoko brings significant multisectoral experience in sustainable development. Her experience has covered a wide array of themes and geographies, having held senior management positions in the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Environment Programme.

In her most recent position at the ILO, Tomoko served as the Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, promoting social justice and internationally-recognised human and labour rights. Tomoko was responsible for overseeing ILO’s programmatic and operational activities in 34 member states in Asia and the Pacific and, in 2020, she led the ILO’s work in assisting member states in responding to, and recovering from, the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tomoko is a relentless promoter for inclusive and sustainable development with empowerment, equality and social justice close to her heart. She is a firm believer and strong advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment and holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Sophia (Johchi) University in Tokyo, Japan, and a Bachelor’s degree from Kobe University in Kobe, Japan.
