Assistant Director People – Change, OD and Engagement

A home is a fundamental human need, as vital as education or healthcare. But in Britain today, that right is denied to millions of people whose lives are blighted by homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. For over 50 years, Shelter have been striving for change and leading the way in response to what has become a national emergency.

This particular role involved acting as the key senior lead to the Director for People to ensure the charity’s ability in change management, OD and people engagement, supported and delivered the organisational culture required to deliver long-term strategy outcomes.

As well as developing their in-house capability in change management and people engagement, they would ensure Shelter have the right in-house coaching and mentoring capacity too. Along the way, they would need to engage with a variety of stakeholders to gain a good understanding of the fundamental OD needs of the organisation.

Emma Mather was appointed to the role. A chartered occupational psychologist, Emma brought leadership development experience, talent and succession planning, and a strong track record of leading multi disciplinary teams across a range of organisations including RNLI, Sue Ryder and Greater Manchester Police.
