Chair

For 25 years, Community Foundation Wales has been working with funders to support charities and community groups and strengthen communities across Wales. They work with donors, community groups and charities throughout Wales, taking time to understand what each is trying to accomplish and supporting them to do so with impact. Since 1999, they have awarded over £40m in grants to grassroots community groups and charities across Wales on behalf of donors. They are also part of the wider, 47-strong UK Community Foundation network.

Prospectus undertook a search for a Chair to lead the Board, who were keen to continue growth in scale, reach and impact. As well as ensuring the continued strong governance and delivery of the organisation, the Chair would also act as a key ambassador to raise the profile of Community Foundation Wales. The role would take at least three days per month.

Judi Rhys MBE was appointed to the role. A highly experienced and respected senior leader, Judi brings a track record of successful delivery in a range of senior roles and sectors, most notably as Chief Executive of Tenovus, The British Liver Trust and Arthritis Care. She also brings a breadth of governance experience from numerous public sector and charity sector Board appointments, including Alzheimer’s Society, Public Health Wales NHS Trust, Sports Wales and Samaritans Cymru.  Judi is an excellent communicator and an inspirational and empowering leader. She was awarded MBE in the 2021 New Year Honours list for her work in the voluntary sector.

Annabel Lloyd, Vice-Chair of Community Foundation Wales, had these comments their partnership with Prospectus: “Prospectus provided excellent best practice advice, as well as expert guidance and support as we sought the next Chair of Community Foundation Wales. It began with taking time to thoroughly understand the brief, and continued with fulsome communication, precision planning and flexible, timely and efficient client service – at once proactive and responsive, professional and human. Best of all, we have a great new Chair ready to join us in the new year and couldn’t be more pleased with her appointment.”
