The Organisation

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a unique, award-winning organisation that is at an exciting stage of its development.

FareShare fight food poverty by tackling food waste. They source food that is surplus to requirements – from food retailers and manufacturers – and engage many volunteers to help redistribute this to local charities and community groups that provide meals to vulnerable people (individuals who are homeless, unemployed, socially isolated, recovering from addictions).

FareShare now operates 21 Regional Centres around the UK. The majority of these are run by local charitable organisations called Delivery Partners. This enables them to be a UK-wide organisation yet also think and behave with local concerns at the heart of their actions. They support over 7,000 local charities and groups – Community Food Members, and over the past year 13,000 tonnes of food were redistributed by FareShare Regional Centres nationwide, feeding 500,000 people every week. They operate across 1,300 towns, cities and villages and save UK charities and community groups more than £23 million each year.

With hunger a growing issue in the UK, and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, FareShare believe that this food should be used to feed people first. Demand far outstrips supply.

A dynamic and ambitious organisation, FareShare have realised consistent growth over the last 7 years.

To allow them to continue growing their reach and achieve their vision, they have recently undertaken a restructuring process with the view it will help facilitate moving them from a small organisation structure to one that will give them the capacity to shape and manage ongoing growth in the future, developing a new SMT of 7 to sit under established Directors Now recruiting to 4 of these new roles, FareShare are looking for the highest calibre candidates to join the team, giving them scope to expand further, take on new opportunities and deliver their objectives.

Head of Network Partnerships

The role:

The core purpose of this role is to support and collaborate with FareShare Network Partners across the UK in delivering the best FareShare service possible for their shared customers (in particular CFMs but also Food Industry, Funders, Volunteers and other stakeholders) and that FareShare UK supports FNPs in this work. You will create “One FareShare” – responsible for taking the best practices and service from across the network, and beyond, from which the highest and most efficient way of operating is established, before rolling out and supporting the whole network to adopt as best practice. You will also focus on getting food offered to the right place - as much as possible matching supply and demand across FareShare Network.

The person:

To be successful in the role you will need extensive experience in complex stakeholder management when developing and delivering joint business, organisational or partnership plans as well as identifying and developing strategic themes to be developed.

You will have excellent experience in developing complex business or partnership plans; demonstrable experience of working across complex organisations internally and externally and experience of voluntary sector, trade unions or other non-commercial partnerships. Some experience of demand and supply management or logistics is also required.

You will also need experience of leading the development, communication and successful delivery of a strategy and extensive management experience that will get the best from direct reports and strengthen the overall management of the organisation. You must be confident with financial management (good knowledge and experience of managing large six figure budgets) and we will be looking for transferable experience that demonstrates a high likelihood to fit into the management culture of a medium sized voluntary sector organisation that is run on strong business lines.
