We are facing a climate and nature crisis that threatens the future of life on our planet. But we have the power to fix it. ClientEarth works to create a world protected by robust laws where people and nature thrive together. With more than 160 staff and 100 legal staff, we use the law to drive systemic changes which tackle climate change and protects the natural ecosystems that sustain our world. Working from our headquarters in London with offices in Beijing, Berlin, Brussels, Los Angeles and Warsaw, we find innovative solutions to some of society's most pressing environmental challenges.
Chief Financial Officer
London (or Brussels / Berlin)
The Chief Financial Officer is a critical role for ClientEarth as we continue a period of rapid growth, significantly increasing our impact and global reach. Providing inspirational leadership, our CFO will take strategic responsibility for the long-term financial health of ClientEarth and all financial aspects of our strategy and operations. This includes developing the long-term organisational financial strategy and the functional and programmatic financial strategies, instilling a strong 'business partnering' mentality and managing the finance systems and reporting.
We are looking for a commercially-minded, qualified accountant with significant leadership experience and a truly global outlook. You will provide financial oversight across the organisation and strategic stewardship of the investment portfolio.
Critically, you will have extensive experience of managing the finances of large and complex international organisations. Experience of working within a charity context and with sub-granting is important as is experience of investment management.
To succeed in our highly entrepreneurial and collaborative culture, you share ClientEarth's deep commitment to our natural world, and specifically bring:
• The spirit to seek the best possible outcome on all dimensions, retaining a long term perspective.
• The self-confidence to be both caring and direct with people and to challenge in a balanced and straight-forward way.
• Self-awareness and humility to learn from successes as well as failures
• A 'mission-driven' mindset that is energised about changing the world's approach to the climate crisis.
With a highly motivated team in place and a connected Board, we believe this is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual committed to creating positive social outcomes.
