Spirit of 2012 is a funding charity, established after the summer of 2012 with a £47m National Lottery endowment from the Big Lottery Fund. It funds partners across the UK that provide opportunities in arts and culture, volunteering and social action and physical activity and sport to create good outcomes for people and communities.

Spirit funding enables people to be active, creative and connected. It has supported projects inspired by events including the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Hull 2017 UK City of Culture and the 2018 Centenary of Women's Suffrage. The charity is at a pivotal time as it looks forward to involvement in future events, for example Coventry City of Culture, and develops its strategic direction for the next five years and beyond.
Spirit of 2012 is currently seeking two Board Directors who may have backgrounds in the following areas: Senior Academic Research or Policy Leaders with a focus on public health, wellbeing, or social value; Arts and Cultural Leadership; Experience of leading and leveraging Social Investment or Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
Prospective Board Directors will be excited by Spirit's mission to make a difference and will share an informed belief in the value of arts and culture, physical activity and volunteering as routes to personal empowerment and community wellbeing.
