The Fairtrade Foundation in the UK is the largest in a significant international network of national foundations campaigning for better trading conditions for producers in the global south, partnering with supermarkets and others in the food supply chain to ensure better practices, and influencing consumers to include the issue of fair trade when making their choices.
Following the appointment of Harriet Lamb to Chief Executive of Fairtrade International in Bonn, the Foundation needed to recruit her successor. After an in-depth, executive search led process, the Foundation interviewed candidates from the business community, DfID, and other large development charities. They appointed Michael Gidney, who had been the Deputy Chief Executive, to the role. In addition, Prospectus also supported the Foundation in the appointment of a Director of Finance and IT, and undertook a governance review project.
