SHP were looking to appoint a new Chair to replace Jonathan Senker, their longstanding Chair who had worked closely with the Executive team over a number of years. The new Chair would work with the Board and Executive Team as the organisation set a new long-term vision and strategy to ensure that they make the greatest difference in the years ahead.

Single Homeless Project (SHP) was founded by a group of homeless men in 1975. After experiencing long periods of homelessness, they were able to persuade a housing association to let them use a short life property in Pimlico to house themselves. This initiative was the foundation for what later became Single Homeless Project. Today SHP is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Each year SHPS works with more than 8,000 individuals across all London boroughs to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poverty, poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency.

The ideal candidate would bring experience of working collegiately to set long-term high impact strategies and have the insight and experience to ensure robust, modern and effective governance, together with an intuitive ability to foster the right blend of support and challenge to the Chief Executive and the Executive Team. Importantly, they would combine an alignment with their values and aims with the commercial focus required to promote our long-term sustainability.

Prospectus worked with SHP to build a diverse advertising campaign across a range of skill specific job boards, social media and pay per click advertising - all targeted on finding the right candidate to match the brief. SHP received all the applications and managed longlisting, shortlisting and the on-boarding.

SHP was delighted to announce the appointment of the new Chair of Trustees, Jon Rosser. Jon, who is currently the Chief Executive of an international children’s health charity,  has 20 years’ experience as a senior executive, including two Chief Executive roles and three roles as a Chair on Boards.

Jon Rosser said: “I am very committed to supporting the mission of SHP to tackle the appalling levels of homelessness that exist now in London, and to ensuring that vulnerable homeless people get the support they need.

“Much of my career was spent in social housing in London so I am well aware of the housing crisis facing Londoners and of the need for effective support for people who become homeless.

“I have big shoes to fill as I take on the role from Jonathan Senker, who has provided such outstanding leadership to SHP for so many years. I look forward to working with Chief Executive Liz Rutherfoord, the Trustees and SHP staff as we shape the future strategy of the organisation and ensure that it can continue to meet the needs of thousands of London’s most vulnerable and excluded people.”
