Having worked in Recruitment Advertising for many years, I have seen more than my fair share of changes in attitude towards the use of advertising agencies for recruitment. Back in the 80s, 90s and to some extent the ‘noughties’, it seemed like every organisation had one, which was probably just as well in a marketplace where you had to wait 3-4 weeks just to get your advertisement in a national newspaper. Successful charities should pay well!

The issue of pay is likely to continue to be difficult as long as the sector doesn’t educate the public generally, and some key stakeholders specifically, about what charitable organisations look like; the complexity of their operations, their impact on society, and why senior executives (and other staff) should be paid a fair and decent salary in relation to their skills, experiences and achievements.

Interview: Brett Wigdortz - CEO Teach First

There needs to be a focus on education. The government must work on ensuring equality of opportunity. It’s terrifying that the quality of education is dependent upon a child’s location or post code. Equality in education is needed to encourage participation in society for all.
