Prospectus is delighted to announce the appointment of David Thomlinson as their new Chair of the Board of Trustees at UK Youth from December 2020.
David has more than 40 years’ experience in engineering and business. He served on the Global Management Board of Accenture for 11 years before retiring in 2014. His previous leadership roles at Accenture included Group Chief Executive of the Resources industries, Chairman of the UK and Ireland geographies and overall responsibility for Strategy and Operations across 55 countries.
David has an extensive portfolio of work that he dedicates his time to; including Chair of Moixa Energy, International Secretary of the Royal Academy of Engineering and advisory board member of BecomingX – Plant for Peace and Immerse.
Passionate about addressing inequalities of opportunities for young people to realise their potential, David has been a long-term supporter of Teach First and sits on the UK Board of Teach for All.
The current Chair, Lady Anne Stoneham MBE, will be standing down in December 2020 and David will officially take the post on from then. Anne has been UK Youth’s board of trustees since 1988, and Chair of the charity since 2014.
During her time as Chair, Anne has onboarded two new CEOs, lead a positive governance and board development review, supported the charity through a restructuring, overseen an effective merger and guided the charity through a successful rebrand. Anne has consistently been committed to her role, attending numerous internal and external meetings, as well as public engagements. Her support has invaluably helped the Charity create a strong foundation for the future.
David Thomlinson said, “I am honoured to be selected as the new Chair of the Trustee Board of UK Youth. For more than 30 years, the wisdom, passion and dedication of Anne Stoneham has been a wonderful asset to the organisation. She leaves big shoes to fill. I look forward to the onboarding and transition that will take place over the next six months and then getting started as Chair in the winter.”
